Celtic Must Beat Preston in Race for Manager as O’Neill Drops Exit Bombshell

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has recently admitted that it could be ‘time to wrap it up’ after losing to Rangers at the weekend.

 

O’Neill’s men were beaten by Rangers for the second time in seven days, making it three games lost in a row for the Glasgow club.

 

It’s a disappointing run for Celtic, and O’Neill made an admission about his future after the game.

 

The experienced manager is undoubtedly nearing the end of his managerial career, but he opted to take the Celtic job once again as he looks to continue steering them in the right direction.

At his age, O’Neill is undoubtedly very honest in his press conferences. He has no time to beat around the bush, and that was extremely evident in his latest meeting with the media.

Speaking to the media after Celtic’s game against Rangers, O’Neill admitted that it could be time for him to wrap it up, and he’s going to speak to the board.

It was certainly a bombshell admission from O’Neill, and it might be something that tempts Celtic into making a change.

 

If the manager is even remotely thinking about potentially leaving the club, then he’s clearly not 100% in it.

Celtic were heavily linked with a move to appoint former Tottenham striker Robbie Keane earlier this year, and he should be a manager they look to explore again.

 

Keane has shown he’s a more than capable manager after winning multiple league titles during his short career, but Celtic could face competition if they do go for him.

 

English club Preston North End recently sacked their manager, and Keane is reportedly one of the names on the shortlist.

If Celtic do decide to make a change in the near future, or O’Neill opts to leave, then Celtic should be going all out for Keane.
