Graham Potter has been sounded out as a manager target at Rangers.

Steven Gerrard looked set to make a Rangers return before talks ultimately fell through for him to replace Russell Martin at Ibrox.

After the departure of the ex-Southampton boss, Gerrard emerged as the prime candidate at Rangers, but now attentions have to turn elsewhere.

Derek McInnes has now been linked to Rangers as Andrew Cavenagh and Co. search for the man to lead the Light Blues forward.

Interest has now been shown in Potter as a new managerial option has come to the fore in Govan.

Rangers sound out Graham Potter appointment

Potter was linked with a Rangers move to replace Philippe Clement nearly 12 months ago after his departure from Chelsea.

The Englishman has since managed West Ham and failed to impress before being sacked at the London Stadium.

Having picked up a win rate of just 24 per cent with the Hammers, it was little surprise that the 50-year-old was shown the door in East London.

Potter could land himself a new role just weeks after his West Ham exit, with the role at Ibrox potentially on the table.

The Daily Record reported on 12 October that Potter has been sounded out alongside Gary O’Neil as a managerial option.

This duo sit behind Danny Rohl in the pecking order at Rangers as the German remains the favourite after impressing senior figures in early discussions.

The Bears faithful had largely come to terms with the idea that Gerrard would be the next manager in G51.

They now have to pivot, with Rohl appearing to be the most likely option, as the recruitment process drags on at Ibrox.

The ex-Sheffield Wednesday boss could prove to be a coup for the Gers after what had been a productive spell until turmoil hit the Owls.
