Tottenham Hotspur loanee Manor Solomon will likely miss Leeds United’s clash with Cardiff City. It’s a significant blow to the Whites, who are looking to regain their confidence after a tough home loss last weekend to Burnley.

On Thursday, Adam Pope from the BBC reported that Solomon is a big uncertainty for Leeds ahead of this crucial away match, as the team looks to secure a win and get back into the top six.

“Leeds United winger Manor Solomon is the major injury doubt with a back problem ahead of Saturday’s Championship fixture at Cardiff City,” Pope wrote on X.

Solomon has missed so many matches do to injury in his career. Last season, the 25-year-old missed 33 games after dealing with a Meniscus injury. During the 2022-23 season, the winger missed 17 contests after having Knee surgery, so while these past injuries aren’t his back, once a player gets the title of injury-prone, it’s hard to shake off that label.

Does Leeds regret the Manor Solomon transfer?

Journalist Graham Smyth has suggested that Daniel Farke’s team missed an opportunity by not signing the player, especially since he can fill multiple positions and would be helpful given the club’s current injury problems. He also pointed out that Leeds should have made a stronger effort to secure Roland Sallai, who ultimately ended up at Galatasaray.

“Manor Solomon, a lot of people had concerns over his injury record,” Smyth said while speaking on Inside Elland Road Podcast (h/t CaughtOffside). “He’s got a back issue this week and the biggest question mark of all is over him. Numbers and height, they should have got Sallai.

“Roland Sallai, big lad, can play everywhere, especially 10. They should have got him, they should have got him, there can be no real debate about that now can there?”

While the Bluebirds are an opponent that Leeds should defeat, manager Daniel Farke warned not to take them lightly. Moreover, with the injury to Solomon, Cardiff City have the confidence to take down the away side.

“It will be a tough and difficult game for us,” Farke told Leeds’ official website. “So it’s not like they are after five game days in position 24 and they will finish in 24. They will finish in a much, much better position and for that I’m fully aware of the quality of the players.

“I’m fully aware that they are in a situation where they will invest everything and fight. And for that, we have to be even more switched on, I expect a really difficult game for us.”
