Robby McCrorie sell-on clause update emerges at Rangers as Kilmarnock transfer nears

Robby McCrorie’s move to Kilmarnock will see Rangers benefit from both add-ons and a sell-on clause in the future, according to Chris Jack.

 

The Rangers Review journalist reported on Tuesday (9 July) that the Scottish stopper is set to jet out of the Gers’ pre-season camp in the Netherlands to join Derek McInnes’ side on a two-year deal.

McCrorie is expected to return to Scotland on Tuesday evening before he gets to work at Rugby Park having previously told Philippe Clement he wanted to leave Ibrox in search of more regular first-team football.

McCrorie’s exit has been inevitable for much of the summer transfer window and it has been clear for some time now that he would not be part of the furniture at Ibrox for much longer amid growing transfer speculation.

 

A move to Kilmarnock feels like the best solution for all parties this summer as the Light Blues will likely pocket a reasonable fee for the 26-year-old’s services while McInnes has got his hands on a very good goalkeeper.

Should he go on to succeed and earn himself a big move away from Rugby Park in the future, the Gers could be in line to earn a good portion of whatever transfer fee Kilmarnock get their hands on depending on what sort of percentage they’re entitled to.

With Jack Butland seeming settled in Glasgow and Liam Kelly already through the door this summer, Clement won’t have to rush to replace McCrorie and the Gers may well instead look to pick up an experienced head to become the third choice.

 

Unless something drastically changes in the next couple of hours, it seems almost inevitable that McCrorie’s exit will be confirmed in the next couple of hours and it will be interesting to see what sort of initial fee Rangers get their hands on.
