It was this form that saw the ex-Lincoln City loanee attract interest in January. Serie A outfit Lazio saw their approaches rebuffed, prompting director of football Neil Dewsnip to publicly address the situation:
“Last night we received an official offer for Morgan from Lazio. Having discussed this internally and with the player’s representatives, the offer was immediately rejected. Morgan is very happy at Argyle and we maintain our position that he is not for sale.”
The Italians could return to the fold in the coming weeks, whereas the winger has also been linked with Brentford, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Stuttgart and Celta Vigo. However, it is Rangers that have made the first move.
According to The Daily Record, Plymouth have rejected their initial offer of over £7 million including add-ons. Despite the setback, manager Philippe Clement remains steadfast in his view that Whittaker is a player he wants to bring to Ibrox. As such, Football Insider claim that a new bid is being prepared.
