Murillo reveals Carlos Miguel text messages in huge Nottingham Forest transfer update

Latest Nottingham Forest transfer news as Reds look to tweak Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad in summer window

Goalkeeper Carlos Miguel comes highly recommended to Nottingham Forest by fellow Brazilian Murillo ahead of his expected move to the City Ground.

The Reds look set to welcome Miguel from Corinthians as part of a reshuffle between the posts this summer. A 4 million euros (£3.4m) release clause in his contract is in line to be activated and he is reportedly poised to sign a five-year deal.

Should the move go through as anticipated the 25-year-old will be reunited with Murillo, who switched between the two teams 12 months ago. The centre-back says he spoke to Forest about signing his former Corinthians teammate last winter when the club were on the lookout for a keeper.

“I heard a few things that Nottingham were interested and I also spoke a lot about him to the people at Nottingham,” Murillo told journalist Benjamin Back in an interview for his Benja Me Mucho YouTube channel (translated via UOL). “I spoke to my coach, a lot of things… It was when Cassio (Miguel) was still here (at Corinthians).

“I had just arrived (at Forest), we had a goalkeeper problem. I had recommended him at the end of last year.”

Asked what he told the Reds, Murillo added: “He’s a good goalkeeper, he’s a reserve goalkeeper for Corinthians, but for me he’s a great goalkeeper, he has a lot to offer, he has room for improvement. If I were you, I’d keep an eye on him and analyse him more closely.”

It seems Forest followed his advice. Recent reports from Brazil indicated Miguel would undergo a medical in early July ahead of making the switch Trentside.
