Vaclav Cerny is on the verge of sealing a transfer to Rangers on loan despite interest from Leeds United, according to iSport.

The Czech outlet reported on 25 July that the 26-year-old Wolfsburg winger has already completed a medical ahead of a move to Ibrox, snubbing United and LaLiga side Las Palmas in the process.

Daniel Farke’s side had reportedly been keen on both Cerny and his compatriot Adam Hlozek [Sunday Mirror, 23 June], but didn’t want to pay the former’s full salary if they had brought him in on loan from the Bundesliga club.

Leeds United could be made to wait for transfers out wide

Going into the new Championship season, it’s arguable that the Whites have by far the best plethora of wingers in their squad, and Cerny would have added to those options had he not chosen to join Rangers.

With Wilfried Gnonto, Daniel James and Championship Player of the Year Crysencio Summerville at their disposal, United have three players relatively proven at Premier League level, never mind t

he second tier.

However, with both Gnonto and Summerville having been heavily touted to make moves away this summer, a signing of Cerny’s profile and quality could have proved an ample replacement.

T.With any fee for Summerville in particular expected to be well beyond the £30million mark, the Whites will have money to spend if and when it comes to finding a new face to fill the left-wing spot.

Gnonto likewise could command a value north of £20m [TEAMtalk, 15 July], and if Farke wants to ensure his side don’t lose out on the dozens of goal contributions laid on by the pair, he may have to enter a competitive marketplace for a high calibre of international wingers.

In other Leeds news, the Whites have confirmed three new changes to their boardroom structure with Companies House.
