Junior Firpo says Leeds United recently signed a ‘really good’ player he already loves playing with

Junior Firpo says Leeds United recently signed a ‘really good’ player he already loves playing withJunior Firpo has lost count at the number of left-wingers he has played behind during his time at Leeds United.

Firpo is now into his fourth year at Elland Road and due the amount of turnover in the squad in that period, he has had to build an understanding with a new player more than once in all of those seasons.

Jack Harrison, Dan James, Luis Sinisterra, Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville have all had stints as Leeds‘ first choice left-winger in recent years, and now there are two more for him to build a connection with.

Firpo had the most success playing behind Summerville last season but after his exit in the summer, Leeds were forced to enter the market for reinforcements out wide.

Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon were those that Leeds went for, but it is still very much early days for both in their Elland Road careers.

With both having joined in a matter of days of each other, Solomon has so far been given the nod ahead of Ramazani in that left-wing spot.

Solomon started both matches against Hull City and Burnley and really shone on his debut against the former, providing the crucial assist for Mateo Joseph’s goal.

Neil Redfearn quickly labelled Solomon as too good for the division but there is no doubt his costly slip in the defeat to Burnley will have brought him slightly back down to earth.

Solomon showed some neat touches in that game but was not quite able to really deliver that end product, though speaking in an interview with LUTV, Firpo believes it is going to be very easy to build a strong connection with the Israel international.

He said: “Yeah I think I am the full-back who has played with the most different wingers in this club, for sure a lot of them with a different style of play. But I just think we need to get a better connection, I think we are doing pretty good with Manor, I can play easily with him.

“He’s a really good footballer and his understanding of football is also really, really high. So I think there won’t be a problem with Manor. With Largie, I haven’t played with him at any point. At some point for sure we will do it.

“We will have to build this connection as well and as I said just trying to help them understand quickly how we want to play, the way the fans are, the club are is the most important right now.”

Ramazani could get Leeds nod over Solomon vs Cardiff

Solomon is actually one of four players Daniel Farke said is doubtful heading into this weekend’s match.

Alongside Firpo, Joe Rodon and Joe Rothwell, Solomon has been carrying an injury this week, and is regarded as the most likely to miss out.

Given he has just made four starts in just two weeks for club and country on the back of almost a year without any competitive football, perhaps it would be wise not to risk him.

As such, that could open the door for Firpo (if fit) to play with yet another left-side partner in Ramazani, who is pushing for a full debut.
