Joleon Lescott explains the lesson Celtic gave some of Man City’s players last night

As the analysis continues over Celtic’s US Tour win over Man City, Joleon Lescott shares how lessons will have been learned by some players in Pep Guardiola’s side.

The 4-3 win left the Celtic fans raving about Nicolas Kuhn as the German winger gave the Man City defence a torrid time in the first half.

Matt O’Riley also put in a quality performance with his involvement in three of Celtic’s goals and Kyogo Furuhashi did what he does best with a piercing run to beat the City backline for his first goal in the US Tour.

It was a great performance from the Bhoys that left Pep Guardiola praising Celtic’s ‘quality’ but it was also an ‘experience’ for some of City’s players that former defender, Joleon Lescott, says will never have had before.

Man City faced ‘highest level’ of performance vs Celtic

The former England defender wasn’t too despondent about City’s loss to Celtic but did say that some of their players will have learned from Celtic’s ‘tactical ability’ in the game.

Lescott said [Man City TV], “It’s not about them doing well it’s about them learning and you sometimes learn more from bad experiences.

“So that’s important the fact that they’ve been able to experience different players and for a lot of them this will be the highest level of competitive opponent that they have faced.

“Whether it’s pace, tactical ability or the understanding of the game, they wouldn’t have experienced all them components in one game so far.

“So it’s a massive learning curve and hopefully something then they’ll cherish and realise there’s still a long way to go for them as individuals.”

Even though it was a pre-season friendly, winning against a team that possesses the quality that Man City does should not be understated either, Oscar Bobb is one of the most highly-rated players.
