GOOD NEWS : Newcastle united Head Coach Eddie Howe confirmed the signing of his dream player.
Newcastle United midfielder picks up fresh injury – ‘I don’t know the results yet’
Miley joined the League Two club during the final week of the summer transfer window after enjoying a productive pre-season involved with Eddie Howe’s first-team.
With younger brother Lewis sidelined with a metatarsal fracture and Sandro Tonali still suspended at the time, the 20-year-old featured in friendlies against SpVgg Unterhaching, Hull City and Urawa Red Diamonds before making his senior St James’ Park debut versus Girona.
“It’s a lazy comparison but it was a very Lewy Miley type performance and I mean that as a massive compliment because he was very composed on the ball and very diligent off the ball, I thought he really helped us,” Howe said after the 4-0 win over Girona.
“Good tactically which isn’t easy for someone so young to come in and deliver that. As always with Jamie, he’s very level-headed and calm. That will have been a big moment in his career and I was delighted with how he did.”
Newcastle decided a loan move would be best served for the midfielder and Newport subsequently came forward. He made his debut in the 2-1 defeat at home to Cheltenham Town in the EFL Trophy, however limped off inside the remaining 20 minutes.
A few days later, Miley missed Newport’s loss against Port Vale as manager Nelson Jardim explained: “He felt some fatigue, as a precaution we have done a test but I don’t know the results yet. He will be assessed but hopefully it’s nothing.”
Newport travel to Swindon Town this weekend with no confirmation over whether or not Miley will be involved.
