Daniel Farke sack talk blasted as ‘fantastic’ Carlos Corberan talk emerges at Leeds United

Daniel Farke sack talk blasted as ‘fantastic’ Carlos Corberan talk emerges at Leeds United.

Daniel Farke should be given time at Leeds United amid talk of West Brom boss Carlos Corberan replacing him, according to Carlton Palmer.

The Whites have had a mostly positive start to the campaign but that hasn’t stopped pressure from building on the German already.

This could see the Elland Road hierarchy turn their attention to Baggies boss Corberan as a potential replacement later in the season.

Speaking to Football League World on 20 September, Palmer believes Farke deserves more time and shouldn’t be replaced by the Spaniard.

He said: “I think people have been mischievous talking about Daniel Farke leaving Leeds and Carlos Corberan taking over there, that’s nonsense. Apparently, Leeds retain an interest in Corberan, but as I said, I think that’s absolute nonsense.

“I think that Daniel Farke should be given time, he got them to the playoffs last season, it’s been very, very difficult for him this season.

“I think this is a bit of mischievousness, Leeds have a fantastic manager in Daniel Farke and West Brom currently have a top manager in Carlos Corberan.”

Daniel Farke under pressure at Leeds United

Last season went about as well as supporters could have hoped, clocking up 90 points throughout the campaign.

Unfortunately for the Whites they were pipped to promotion for two top teams who just edged over the finish line in better form than them.

It is fair to say that Farke has to take some criticism for that but the start to this year isn’t deserving of that same negativity.

Despite early draws against Portsmouth and West Brom, the form has been mainly positive despite losing against Burnley at Elland Road.

The Clarets took their chance when it came but Leeds dominated throughout the game and on another day win by a few goals rather than lose.

Again, the blame for that defeat can’t be levelled at Farke as he was ultimately let down by the players on the pitch against their promotion rivals.

Looking forward to a clash against Cardiff City, the manager will be hoping to ease some pressure with all three points.
