Manchester City are yet to lodge a formal bid for Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi but their interest in the Japanese international is genuine with a move possible in the coming days, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League club want the 29-year-old Hoops star as a potential replacement for Argentine forward Julian Alvarez, who they sold to Atletico Madrid for £82 million.

Agreeing personal terms with the Celtic ace would not be a problem given his desire to move to Man City, and the Daily Mail claim the Parkhead club would look for a fee of around £20m for his services.

They insist Celtic would be unlikely to block on any deal if the English giants came to the negotiations table with more than £20m.

It is not up to the initial £25m (plus add-ons/bonuses and a sell-on clause) Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly agreed to pay for Denmark international midfielder Matt O’Riley – which is around the fees the Bhoys got from the sales of Kieran Tierney and Jota, but it could indeed be tempting enough for Celtic.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has signed Adam Idah, but he would be keen to bring in another forward should the Japanese leave in the coming days.

Celtic recruited Kyogo for £4.5m in July 2021, and the opportunity to make around five times that value would be good business.

Their recruitment team will already be looking at their database to identify a perfect replacement for the Asian capable of giving Idah a run for his money.

Celtic will fancy their chances of surviving without the services of Kyogo, and they will not likely stand in his way if he expresses a desire to join Man City and the Etihad Stadium club meet their demands.
