Tommy Conway’s contract latest amid Celtic links
Bristol City striker Tommy Conway is reportedly of interest to Celtic and may be allowed to leave Ashton Gate this summer after refusing to sign a contract extension at Ashton Gate.
Media outlets have claimed the Bhoys may try to land his services in January. They would only need to pay £300,000 in compensation due to his deal expiring in summer 2025.
Per Bristol Post, Robins manager Liam Manning has revealed Conway has been sent to train with their Under-21 side as he continues to pass on the opportunity to renew his terms at the Sky Bet Championship outfit.
He stated: “Tommy has had a contract offer on the table, which is an excellent offer. This has been turned down, and not negotiated with the player expressing a desire to leave.
“The decision has been made for him to train with the U21s, with the focus wholly on players who are fully committed to what we are trying to achieve.”
Tommy Conway could be an option for Celtic
Conway is a familiar face to Scottish football fans after he made a late break for Steve Clarke’s Euro 2024 squad due to Lyndon Dykes’ injury.
Unfortunately, he didn’t make an appearance at the tournament. However, his form at club level was impressive last season.
Featuring 43 times for Bristol City last campaign, the Taunton-born forward registered 12 goals and showed plenty of promise due to his finishing ability and capacity to get in behind defences [Transfermarkt].
Celtic need striking reinforcements, with only Kyogo Furuhashi on the books as a senior centre-forward option, and Conway is a rising star with the potential to thrive at Parkhead.
