BREAKING NEWS: Rangers rejected new signer due to.

Cyriel Dessers has been warned reacting to Rangers fans’ jeers during a game is not a good idea.

The Nigerian striker has come in for some heavy criticism since making a £4.5m move to Rangers last summer from Serie A side Cremonense.

But Dessers has handled the flak well and despite the noise, he scored 22 goals in all competitions for the Ibrox giants last season.

However, there was a particular moment on Tuesday night against Dynamo Kyiv that really annoyed the Rangers frontman and he reacted angrily.

Fans at Hampden jeered at him after he failed to hold the ball up in attack but Dessers was having none of it and reacted furiously.

The moment was captured by the BBC Scotland TV cameras on the night to which commentator Rob McLean said: “Dessers reacting to the jeers from the crowd as the ball was played up to him and it didn’t stick. He’s waving his arms around furiously towards the fans and saying, ‘Give me your support’.”

Ex-Rangers midfielder Derek Ferguson made a point of bringing up the incident on the Open Goal podcast and delivered a feisty response to Dessers’ actions.

Ferguson said: “Dessers, we praised him last week, but be careful mate. We get that you are giving your all and you’re maybe a bit jaded, but when the fans are giving you it, that’s part and parcel of being a Rangers (player).

“That’s part of the game, you’ve got to accept that and get on with it. See when he started that, I was really surprised. That’s where somebody needs to go over and get a grip of him.

“Hell mend you if you do that, you’re in for a rough ride, I’m telling you.”

There is dubiety over whether Dessers was actually reacting to fan jeers or if he was furious at the officials for an offside which followed the striker’s failure to bring the ball down.

The account then posted a longer video underneath and wrote: “Full sequence. Dessers going tonto re: a foul he wasn’t going to be awarded in a million years.

“At the very end – where the original clip rather telling cuts out – you can see him clear as day making a flag motion for a third time to the linesman on that side.”
