BREAKING NEWS; Everton Confirmed the return of former key player.

Leon Osman has slammed Ashley Young for letting Everton down as footage emerged from the Brighton game on 17 August.

The Toffees suffered a disappointing defeat at Goodison Park with the Seagulls securing a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts as Young got sent off for making a silly challenge on Kaoru Mitoma.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Osman said (17 August, 16:27): “Really poor from Ashley Young. You can see, two arm pull. Hoping the referee doesn’t see it. But he does. That’s a red card.”

Ashley Young cannot be the first-choice right-back for Everton this season

Young’s performance against Brighton, culminating in a red card, underscores why he should not be their first-choice right-back this season.

At 39, his age has evidently caught up with him, making him a liability in a league where pace and agility are paramount.

His challenge on Mitoma wasn’t just a tactical error but a physical misjudgment, indicative of a player whose game has been overtaken by the modern Premier League’s demands.

His inclusion in the starting lineup reflects poorly on Everton’s squad depth, suggesting a lack of investment in younger, more dynamic full-backs.

This not only compromises the team’s defensive stability but also places undue pressure on Sean Dyche, who deserves a squad capable of competing at a higher level without relying on veterans past their prime.

Ben Godfrey would’ve undoubtedly done a better job there and his leaving and the club not replacing him is a major blunder.
