There’s no need to panic, well not yet anyway. But Celtic know now that there is even less time to seal a few more deals in this summer transfer window. Brendan Rodgers and fans see it as vital that more quality players are added to this squad. If the club had plans to let things drag on, it might be worth resetting their alarm clocks.

The transfer window started slowly for the Hoops, even though vital roles in the team were vacant. The lack of activity certainly did not make fans happy. But ultimately, deals for Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo were agreed. Then Paulo Bernardo’s return was announced after a long wait.

The news that Adam Idah had also been signed was very welcome, even if it seemed to take ages to finalise. The Irishman could potentially turn out to be the record signing in Celtic history, depending upon which add-ons are met.

The clock was always ticking as far as the window was concerned and more pace will be needed to get more players in. Especially now that it looks like the deadline is being brought forward.

As reported by The Scotsman, the summer transfer window in Scotland will close slightly earlier this year. The deadline has now been set at 11 pm on Friday, August 30. The Scottish Football Association wrote to all SPFL clubs on Friday to inform them that they will have an hour less to conclude their activity this time around.

Celtic’s pace so far in the window suggests that they may need plenty of time to sign more players. But the club has moved quickly in the past, especially on deadline day, to close late deals. Cameron Carter-Vickers is one example of a great last-minute signing.

With another forward and a left-back viewed as an absolute minimum, plus possibly another centre-back and a midfielder, it’s still quite a long wish list for Celtic. They have had plenty of time so far, and inevitably some potential transfer targets will take their time to choose a new home.
