Leeds United are often one of the liveliest clubs in the transfer window in England, and the Whites have been no exception this year.

Daniel Farke has made big moves to sign the likes of Joe Rodon, Manor Solomon and Largie Ramazani, with Leeds still chasing Sheffield United star Gustavo Hamer as a big-name Championship coup.

Another player the Yorkshire giants have been after in recent weeks is Fortuna Dusseldorf star Ao Tanaka, with the Japanese international having a release clause worth €3m (£2.5m) that has come across as appealing for Leeds.

And today, there has been a major development in Leeds’ pursuit for Tanaka.

Ao Tanaka not in Dusseldorf training ahead of Leeds move

According to Bild, Tanaka was not present in training this morning for Dusseldorf, with Leeds in talks with the 2. Bundesliga side to get a deal over the line for the 25-year-old midfielder.

Hailed by the Bundesliga’s official website as a ‘remarkable’ athlete, Tanaka could be an exceptional signing for Leeds this summer and a top replacement for the likes of Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, who both left Elland Road this summer.

And with Tanaka not in training today, there’s a real chance that Leeds are about to strike a breakthrough with Dusseldorf for the Japanese international, who seems keen on making the mo

ve to the Championship side.
