BREAKING NEWS:Brendan Rodgers Confirmed the departure of two key players few minutes ago..

Scotland’s narrow 1-0 defeat to Hungary in their final Euro 2024 group stage match has ended their campaign and significantly impacted Celtic’s pre-season plans.

The Scottish team’s exit from the tournament was sealed by Kevin Csoboth’s 99th-minute goal, which left the Scots at the bottom of Group A with just one point from three matches. This defeat, following a heavy 5-1 loss to Germany and a 1-1 draw with Switzerland, highlighted the difficulties Scotland faced throughout the tournament, including injuries to key players and a failure to capitalise on crucial opportunities.

For Celtic, the end of Scotland’s Euro 2024 run has immediate implications. Callum McGregor and Anthony Ralston, who were crucial to Scotland’s efforts and played in all three group stage matches, will now be given a well-deserved period of rest. Their dedication and exhaustive performances underscore their importance to both club and country, but the relentless schedule has taken its toll. Going straight from the end of the domestic season into international duty without a break has been demanding, and the time off will allow them to recharge before rejoining their club.

Greg Taylor and James Forrest, despite being part of the Scotland squad, did not get any game time during the tournament. Nevertheless, they will also be afforded a period of rest. This break is crucial for ensuring they return to Celtic refreshed and ready to face the challenges of the upcoming season.

While the international players take their brief hiatus, those Celtic players not involved in the Euros are scheduled to return to training by the end of the week. This staggered return allows the coaching staff to manage the squad’s fitness levels effectively, ensuring everyone is in optimal condition for the pre-season tour. The return of the non-international players will also provide an opportunity for them to integrate with any new signings.

Celtic’s pre-season preparations include a trip to the United States for a series of three friendly matches. The Scotland contingent, including McGregor, Ralston, Taylor, and Forrest, are expected to join the squad before this tour. Their integration will be crucial.
