Nottingham Forest flop seals transfer and says he’ll ‘play for the Championship’

Latest Nottingham Forest news from Nottinghamshire Live bring you what Lars Veldwijk is up to after leaving the City Ground

Former Nottingham Forest striker Lars Veldwijk is on the move again after signing a deal with Thailand club BG Pathum United.

The former Reds forward had recently been playing with Spanish side Castellón and has completed his move to Asia on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old, who made just 12 appearances for Forest having cost a transfer fee, is relishing the opportunity after a frustrating time in Spain where he made just four appearances.

Speaking about his new challenge, he said: “I wanted to play in Asia again. I love Thailand. Although I may not know much about the team in Thailand, I saw the club in action when they played against a team from South Korea and they did very well.

“I know that BG Pathum is one of the big teams and I think we will play for all the championships.”

Veldwijk left Forest in 2016 after failing to make a serious impression during his time at the City Ground. He spent time on loan Zwolle before eventually moving to Kortrijk.

He then had spells with Aalesund (loan), Groningen, Sparta Rotterdam, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, and Suwon FC.
