Dominic Calvert-Lewin future update emerges as Everton make contract offer

Dominic Calvert-Lewin future update emerges as Everton make contract offer.

Everton are keen to keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the club and have opened talks over a new contract, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet reported on 20 September that the Toffees have made a contract offer to the England international.

It’s understood that he’s got suitors in England as well as Europe with there appearing to be strong interest from Germany.

The report reads: “One of those is striker Calvert-Lewin, who has been subject to much speculation and is wanted by multiple Premier League sides, is in the last year of his deal and will be able to negotiate terms with clubs from January.

“Some have stated that he has decided to leave the club but sources have confirmed to TEAMtalk that Everton are pushing on with contract talks and those are now ongoing. The opportunity to stay at the club is on the table and a contract offer has been placed.

“There is the opportunity for Calvert-Lewin to evaluate his options as he has suitors in England and around Europe, with sources also stating he has a very strong opportunity in Germany.”

Everton must be open to the sale of Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Calvert-Lewin’s seemingly lukewarm reception to the contract offer, amidst interest from other clubs, suggests his commitment to the Toffees might be wavering.

Given his inconsistent form and frequent fitness issues in recent seasons, the club must have an approach to simultaneously explore potential replacements while engaging in contract talks.

If Calvert-Lewin decides to move, securing a decent transfer fee could mitigate the financial impact, especially considering his current market value might not reflect his peak form due to these concerns.

This scenario allows Everton to prepare for his potential departure by either financially reinvesting in the squad or balancing the books, which isn’t entirely undesirable given the right circumstances.

Losing the 27-year-old certainly would not be the end of the world for the club and they could be better off signing a more versatile number one.

Calvert-Lewin’s ability forces the team to play a particular way and getting someone capable of drifting wide and offering more off the ball could be beneficial.

In other Everton, a source close to Dan Friedkin has issued an update on the Toffees takeover after a recent twist.
