A former Premier League player has hailed an ‘exciting’ new Leeds United face with a Whites season prediction but note of caution.

Jermaine Pennant made 231 Premier League appearances during his career including 36 for Leeds and the former forward believes the Whites have signed an “exciting” player from the country’s top flight through the loan acquisition of Manor Solomon from Tottenham Hotspur.

Pennant, though, has issued a warning about just what it will take Solomon and Leeds to seal promotion amid a season prediction for his former side. Speaking to MyBettingSites, Pennant said of Solomon: “He’s got Premier League experience, so he should do well. He’s an exciting player. But the Championship is no easy task. We’ve seen it over the years when teams drop down how difficult it is to come back up.”

Casting a prediction for the 2024-25 Championship campaign, Pennant reasoned: “It’s a relentless league. But Leeds were in the play-offs last year in the final, and then narrowly missed out. So, I think they will want to go one step better and go up.

“They started the season as favourites to get promotion. But there’s some big teams down there with them who dropped out from the Premier League last year. They’ll be definitely fighting in the play-offs, if not for automatic promotion.

“I’m sure by the end of the season, we’re going to see Leeds either one way or another looking to get back in the Premier League whether it’s through automatic or through the playoffs. But also, it’s so interesting when the clubs come down from the Premier League, and we see them struggle to make their way back up straight away.”
