Sean Dyche has Everton worry despite ‘dangerous’ Calvert-Lewin verdict

Sean Dyche has Everton worry despite ‘dangerous’ Calvert-Lewin verdict.

Sean Dyche will be very worried about the number of goals Everton are conceding but Dominic Calvert-Lewin once again looked “dangerous” versus Aston Villa, Tony Cascarino has said.

The 27-year-old striker doubled the Toffees’ lead at Villa Park before Unai Emery’s men turned on the style to condemn Sean Dyche’s side to back-to-back 3-2 comeback defeats on Saturday (14 September).

While Calvert-Lewin looking back to his best is huge for the Merseyside club, Dyche’s side have now conceded 13 goals in the opening four league matches.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Sunday (15 September, 8:14am), Cascarino said: “They go 3-2 down, Calvert-Lewin then gets another chance. The good thing is that DCL looks dangerous again.

“In some games, he’s looked so isolated. That wasn’t the case against Villa. It was a really good game, so end-to-end. But that goals against column needs to change. That will be very worrying for Sean Dyche.”

Sean Dyche pressure mounts after disappointing Everton results

There is no doubt Dyche has worked wonders since being appointed at Goodison Park, but the manager no longer has anywhere to hide following the Toffees’ fourth loss of the campaign.

While it is positive to see goals being scored again by Calvert-Lewin, the capitulation against both Bournemouth and Villa is inexcusable, and Dyche’s time to turn things around could be limited.

Everton are familiar with the Premier League’s relegation battle. However, given how excited fans were during the summer transfer window, it is a huge disappointment to see them at the foot of the table.

Of course, without Jarrad Branthwaite in the centre of defence, the Toffees are weakened, but the duo of James Tarkowski and Michael Keane, plus new signing Jake O’Brien, should be performing much better.

There is context of off-field uncertainty that Dyche has had to contend with, of course, but ultimately there have been plenty of chances to put points on the board this season and his side have failed to do that.
