Everton fans will “be buoyed” by the fact John Textor is a multi-billionaire, according to talkSPORT host Jim White.

Textor, 58, has agreed an exclusivity deal with Farhad Moshiri as he bids to buy the Everton owner’s majority stake in the Merseyside club [The Athletic].

It is understood that the American has signed agreements with Moshiri but he’s unable to complete a takeover of the Blues until he’s sold his 45 per cent shareholding at Crystal Palace.

White has called on Evertonians to show patience over Textor’s potential takeover, while also saying about how his wealth could excite those on the blue side of Stanley Park.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (16 August, 10:39am), White said: “Everton fans would be right to be cautious here because 777 went nowhere and now, of late, The Friedkin Group takeover hasn’t come about.

“They’ll be buoyed that this man John Textor is worth £3.77billion himself but any deal on Textor selling his 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace because Premier League rules prohibit individuals from owning more than one team.

“Everton fans have to be patient here.”

It’s been almost 12 months signed 777 Partners got into an agreement with Moshiri but here we are, on the eve of the start of Everton’s 2024/25 Premier League season with the same ownership in place and still none the wiser about who could be buying him out of Goodison Park.

Textor is a man who knows how to run a football club.

The Missouri-born billionaire is the owner of Eagle Football Holdings Ltd, who owns that big chunk of Crystal Palace, as well as Botafogo in Brazil, Lyon in France and Molenbeek in Belgium.

John Textor has been told he cannot buy Everton until he sells his shares in Crystal Palace

Obviously, Moshiri was also someone who knew a thing or two about running a football club in England due to his history at Arsenal before he arrived at Everton and he’s almost run the Toffees into the ground.

But with Textor, Lyon are steadily on the up after a fall from grace at the pinnacle of French football while Botafogo are currently leading the Brazilian Serie A after 22 matches in the 2024 season.

It’s definitely promising but Moshiri’s situation is now that of someone who’s trying to sell his house to someone who’s in a chain. Textor has to sell up his shares at Selhurst Park before anything can really get serious.

In other Everton news, a company in Liverpool has apologised to Evertonians after what they did created a major controversy on Merseyside.
