Stephen McGowan has named Dara O’Shea and Michel-Ange Balikwisha as two Celtic transfer targets.
‘We would like this tournament to be played in Mexico’ -…
Eight weeks after winning the Scottish Cup to complete a domestic double the hoops have still to sign any outfield players.
Two goalkeepers have been signed to solve what could have been a problem position following the retirement of Joe Hart but elsewhere there are plenty of positions in need of strengthening. Two victories in friendly matches over the last week has eased the pressure on the club to be involved in the transfer market but it looks unlikely that there will be any outfield signings in contention for a place in the SPFL opener against Kilmarnock on August 4.
In the Daily Mail McGowan claims:
Rodgers has also targeted Burnley central defender Dara O’Shea and Royal Antwerp winger Michel-Ange Balikwisha before the end of the window and outlined his stance in a meeting with chief executive Michael Nicholson and finance director Chris McKay.
Over the years McGowan has earned the reputation for being very close to the action when it comes to transfers, both incoming and outgoing.
Central defender O’Shea and winger Balikwisha would both cost in the region of £7m which would be a big contrast to last summer where Maik Nawrocki at £4.2m was the only one of seven arrivals that cost more than £3.5m.
Of those seven signings Luis Palma was the only arrival to play in more than half of the 38 SPFL
matches. Two victories in friendly matches over the last week has eased the pressure on the club to be involved in the transfer market but it looks unlikely that there will be any outfield signings in contention for a place in the SPFL opener against Kilmarnock on August 4.
