Bernardo joins in £18m triple deal, club-record agreement struck – Celtic’s dream window

The Scottish Premiership season kicks off in just under two weeks, and Celtic will be eager to win a fourth title in as many years.

But to do that, Brendan Rodgers will be further hoping to dip into the transfer market to strengthen his side, who also completed a double with a Scottish Cup win over rivals Rangers last season. There’s money to play with, too. A hell of a lot of it, in fact.

Despite the first game coming in a matter of days, only two transfers have been confirmed, with 22-year-old goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo and 37-year-old Kasper Schmeichel arriving on five-year and one-year deals respectively. There is still time to get deals done before the season gets under way of course. With this in mind, Record Sport has outlined what a ‘dream’ transfer window could look like for Celtic as they go for a record-equalling 55th league title.

Celtic have already confirmed exits this summer, with winger Sead Haksabanovic departing to Malmo in Sweden in a £1.6million transfer. Forward Hyeon-gyu Oh also left the club and headed to Belgian club K.R.C Genk in a £2.2m deal. Schmeichel and Sinisalo have strengthened the goalkeeping department after vice-captain Joe Hart retired after three successful years, winning seven trophies.

Norwich City’s Adam Idah is vying for a move back to Celtic after a successful mid-season loan, with his nine goals and two assists proving vital to the push for the title – his most important strike coming in the 90th minute of the Scottish Cup Final.

Fans have been clamouring for his return on social media after Celtic made an approach to sign Idah permanently, but Norwich aren’t going to make it easy for them. Without an option-to-buy clause in Idah’s contract, Celtic are left to negotiate with the Canaries, who are demanding at least £5m for the Irish striker’s signature.
