Rangers Open Talks for Major Signing, Record Transfer Fee Likely Needed

Rangers face a 13-day wait until their next Scottish Premiership fixture and the chance to bounce back from two disappointing results in the league.

Rangers boosted their title hopes as they beat leaders Hearts at Ibrox a fortnight ago to close the gap on Derek McInnes’ men at the summit, but since then two 2-2 draws against Livingston and Celtic have left them adrift again.

The Light Blues came from 2-0 down to secure a draw at Livi before the tables were turned in the latest Old Firm derby on Sunday, when they surrendered a 2-0 lead against Martin O’Neill’s visitors as the Ibrox faithful suffered late heartbreak.

While Rangers face Celtic again in the Scottish Cup final this weekend, they have to wait until March 15 until they travel to St Mirren.

The successive draws have left them six points behind Hearts having played the same number of games, with the Jambos very much in pole position to win an unlikely title.

While Danny Rohl and his players are focused on winning silverware, attentions off the pitch have turned to making sure the Rangers squad is stronger next season than it’s been in 2025-26.

Rangers Open Talks Over Permanent Mikey Moore Deal

Reports earlier this month suggested that Rangers are desperate to bring Mikey Moore back on loan next season, but Football FanCast claim that talks are actually underway over a permanent transfer for the Tottenham teenager.

Moore is said to be enthusiastic about the prospect of returning to Ibrox next season, although it’s unclear how he would feel about a longer-term agreement, while Spurs could keep him should they suffer relegation from the Premier League.

Nevertheless, FFC report that Rangers and the 49ers are ready to give Tottenham two reasons to say yes to a permanent move – a hefty sell-on fee and first refusal on a deal to bring the English forward back to north London in the future.

While Spurs gave Moore the green light to join Rangers on a season-long loan deal this season, it was to give the 18-year-old more regular minutes than he would have got at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Seeing the club’s current situation in the Premier League, he probably would have got his fair share of minutes, but he has certainly racked up appearances in Scotland, with his latest Old Firm appearance his 37th of the season in a light blue shirt.
