Rangers Manager: Ex-UCL Boss Could Make Final Shortlist With Rohl – Sky Sports

Rangers are still looking to identify their next manager, and Ralph Hasenhuttl could be among the final candidates, according to Sky Sports News.

The Ibrox club have been on the hunt for a new first-team boss after deciding to part ways with Russell Martin last week following a 1-1 draw with Falkirk, which left the team sitting in eighth place in the Scottish Premiership with just one win so far this season.

The Glasgow side had made Steven Gerrard the leading candidate for the role and were close to a full agreement for him to take over, only for the former Liverpool legend to withdraw from the process as it wasn’t the right time for him to go back into management.

Hasenhuttl, who is best known for his spell in charge of Southampton between 2018 and 2022, has recently been linked with the job as Rangers look for alternatives.

The Austrian, who has been described as “extraordinary” in the past, was most recently the head coach at Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg but was relieved of his duties there at the end of the last campaign.

Now a free agent, the 58-year-old has been linked with a move to Glasgow, and Sky Sports News say that while the process is ongoing and the board have ruled some candidates out of the running, it remains to be seen if Hasenhuttl is still in the mix.

GIVEMESPORT sources understand that Graham Potter and Gary O’Neil were both spoken to but are not being considered, while Danny Rohl has impressed in talks with chairman Andrew Cavenagh and vice-chairman Paraag Marathe in London.

But while some news is coming out about what is happening, there has been no confirmation one way or another about whether Hasenhuttl could be included on the final shortlist of candidates.

The former RB Leipzig boss is known for his expansive style of football, and he looks to keep possession of the ball while playing a high-pressing style off the ball. That is something that would no doubt be appealing to fans at Ibrox, while he also has experience at the top level of the game.
