Breaking News:Rangers Board of directors Andrew Cavenagh has announce news for a new manager and leadership….

Rangers chief Andrew Cavenagh is set to make another trans-Atlantic trip as he jets back from the States to take charge of the hunt for a new Ibrox gaffer.

The American tycoon has set up a meeting in London on Thursday with senior Gers figures to discuss their next move after Sunday’s sacking of boss Russell Martin.

The chairman will be joined at the capital summit by right-hand man and top 49ers Enterprises exec Paraag Marathe – with the pair ready to take a leading role in the managerial search.

Cavenagh’s return from his Pennsylvania base comes just two weeks after he was forced to fly back to Scotland to offer Martin support as 1500 fans gathered outside Ibrox’s front door to demand the manager’s removal.

That backing ended over the weekend as Martin’s side slipped up for the sixth time in just seven league games this season.

Record Sport revealed on Monday that Gers’ US owners were forced to call an emergency board meeting with beleaguered sporting director Kevin Thelwell and under-fire chief executive Patrick Stewart in response to the angry scenes that erupted outside the Falkirk Stadium.

Martin had to be given a police escort away from the ground as furious fans gathered outside the team coach after his short-lived reign reached its conclusion with yet another lacklustre performance in the 1-1 Bairns draw.

Now those crisis conference call talks are set to be followed by a face-to-face sit down in which Cavenagh and Marathe expect to be handed a list of names to start whittling through.

Gers are still drawing up a shortlist but the likes of Steven Gerrard – the club’s 2021 title winning manager – and table-topping Hearts boss Derek McInnes are expected to be among those under consideration for the vacancy.

Sean Dyche could also be discussed given his links with Thelwell, who was director of football at Everton during Dyche’s stint as Goodison gaffe.
